As a member of one of Australia’s most successful rock exports, I spent years touring the globe and crossing the United States. I saw the American Dream from the back of a tour bus, but when it came time to actually relocate from Australia to Los Angeles with my family, I realized that stage credentials didn't mean a thing to the US immigration or credit systems.

My move to the USA wasn't paved by marriage to a citizen or a corporate transfer. I moved as a business owner and entrepreneur, navigating the E2 Treaty Investor Visa process from the ground up. I didn't have a "safety net." I had to learn the hard way how to establish a US credit score, secure a luxury lease without a local history and navigate the specific pain and frustration of the US bureaucratic machine.
